There are approximately 7,000 non-Latvia citizens under the age of 18 dwelling in Latvia. The president of Latvia, Raimonds Vejonis, has created a Social Cohesion Working Group this year tasked with, among other things, amendment of Latvian legislation so that, in the future, the children along with all others born here could be automatically granted Latvian citizenship.
