RIGA - Latvia has joined several initiatives presented at the UN Climate Action Summit in New York, said Agnese Varpina, an aide to Environment Protection and Regional Development Minister Juris Puce (For Development).
In her words, Latvia joined three initiatives that were published during the summit. One of them included involvement of youth in implementation of the Paris agreement goals.
Latvia also joined the initiative of improvement of air quality, and the initiative of promoting climate action and formation or partnerships for implementation of measures in regions.
A number of initiatives were announced at the UN Climate Action Summit grouped in nine themes.
Varpina also said that Latvia in cooperation with the Czech Republic, Lithuania and the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) organized a high-level discussion on climate change.
