RIGA – In January Latvia should make decision regarding the recommendations provided by the Council of Europe’s Committee of Experts on the Evaluation of Anti-Money Laundering Measures and the Financing of Terrorism (Moneyval), said Latvian President Raimonds Vejonis in an interview with the Latvian public television today.

The president did not tell what are exactly the decisions that should be made, just said that if the new government is not approved yet, the decisions should be made by the outgoing government.

The president said that the outgoing government is able to do all the work that is necessary.

As reported, Moneyval has placed Latvia in enhanced follow-up procedure because of the number of Low and Moderate ratings awarded for Effectiveness. Two areas were considered to have low levels of effectiveness - relevant beneficial ownership information and preventing proliferation financing.
