Latvia for first time since February does not record highest Covid-19 mortality rate among EU/EEA countries - ECDC

RIGA - Last week, Latvia's Covid-19 mortality rate for the first time since late February was not the highest among the member states of the European Union (EU) and European Economic Area (EEA), according to the data released by the European Center for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC).

ECDC data show that Latvia recorded 76 Covid-19 deaths per one million population in the two-week period from March 28 to April 10. Higher mortality rate of 79.3 cases per one million residents. The mortality rate over 60 cases was registered also in Norway and Malta.

Across the EU/EEA, Covid-19 mortality in the past two weeks was down to 25.8 deaths per one million population.

Lithuania registered 44.4 Covid-19 deaths per one million population, which ranked Lithuania 10th in the EU/EEA. by Covid-19 deaths in the two-week period. In Estonia, Covid-19 mortality was 38.4 deaths per one million population, the 13th highest figure in the EU/EEA.
