RIGA - Representatives of Latvia and Singapore have held political consultations focusing on the two countries' cooperation in international organizations, LETA was told at the Latvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Singapore hosted the political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs Latvia and Singapore on Monday, October 3.
Katarina Platere, Head of the Bilateral Relations Directorate at the Latvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Pong Kok Tian, Head of the European Directorate at the Singapore Ministry of Foreign Affairs, discussed bilateral relations and the lines of development cooperation, cooperation in international organizations, Russia’s aggression against Ukraine, and the situation in the Indo-Pacific region were discussed.
The officials emphasized their similar vision of current international challenges and the need to ensure the safeguarding of a rules-based international order. Platere commended Singapore’s support and humanitarian assistance provided to Ukraine.
During the visit, the Latvian delegation also met with the head of the EU Mission in Singapore, the Latvian honorary consul, researchers from the leading think tanks, and the ambassadors of partner countries to Singapore.
Previous political consultations between Latvia and Singapore were held in Riga in 2017.
