Latvia and Kazakhstan welcome positive developments in bilateral economic relations

RIGA - During the political consultations, representatives of Latvia and Kazakhstan welcomed the positive trends in bilateral economic relations, stressing the positive impact of the constructive dialogue between the ministries of industry and business on cooperation, the Latvian Foreign Ministry informed LETA.

Political consultations between Latvia and Kazakhstan took place in Riga on Thursday, during which Deputy State Secretary and Political Director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Anzejs Vilumsons and Deputy Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan Roman Vasilenko discussed topical issues of bilateral relations, the development of economic cooperation, and cooperation between the two countries in international organizations. The officials discussed topical issues on the regional and international agenda.

The officials also discussed the progress in improving the bilateral legal framework and confirmed their interest in holding an Intergovernmental Commission on economic, scientific and technical cooperation in 2024.

The consultations also touched upon issues related to deepening relations between the European Union and Central Asia, including measures to promote connectivity between the two regions.

The previous political consultations between Latvia and Kazakhstan took place in Astana in 2022.
