RIGA - Latvia and Kazakhstan might step up cooperation in the areas of education, pharmaceuticals and IT, LETA was told at the Latvian Foreign Ministry.
Foreign Ministry State Secretary Andris Pelss on Thursday met with Kazakhstan's incoming Ambassador to Latvia Dauren Karipov who has arrived in Latvia on his accreditation visit.
During the meeting, the diplomats noted the positive dynamics of bilateral relations. Speaking about the strengthening of political dialogue, Pelss stressed the importance of political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Latvia and Kazakhstan. The next round of consultations is scheduled for November 23 in Riga.
The Kazakh ambassador is due to present his credentials to Latvian President Edgars Rinkevics on Thursday, November 17. The ambassador will also take part in the official program of Latvia's November 18 Independence Day celebrations.
