RIGA - Latvia and the Czech Republic share common understanding of security challenges, said Saeima speaker Edvards Smiltens (United List) during his meeting with Czech Foreign Minister Jan Lipavsky.
Smiltens during the meeting underscored the friendship ties and thanked the Czech Republic for support to strengthening defense capability of the whole region, LETA learned from the Saeima press service.
The Czech Republic is represented at the Adazi-based NATO battle group.
"We are like-minded countries that cooperate closely in the EU and NATO," said Smiltens.
Both officials discussed support to Ukraine in its fight against Russia, underscoring that this issue cannot disappear from the international agenda and Russia should be held responsible for the war crimes.
Both parties also agreed on support to Moldova that has faced Russia's attempts to destabilize the situation. Also, they discussed the fight against Russian propaganda and ways of strengthening independent media.
