RIGA - Latvian retailers and suppliers confirm that they have sufficient stocks of hygiene goods, the Economics Ministry reported.
The ministry said that stocks of these goods meet the average Latvian consumption demand in a period for several months, therefore there are no concerns that any traffic disturbances will affect availability of these products in Latvian stores.
"The ministry maintains a constant dialogue with traders and received information that traders even before the ministry had given this task, had stocked up reserves of first necessity goods. The ministry is monitoring the situation in the market of hygiene goods - soap, wet cloths, diapers, toothpaste, tooth brushes, paper towels, toilet paper and hygiene goods for women," the ministry said.
Retailers are informed that in case stocks of any of the goods are depleted, reaching a low level, they inform the ministry and solutions are to be sought to promote availability of these goods.
Also, the ministry is negotiation ways to expand production of hand sanitizers and face masks with manufacturers.
