Kaspars Zelcs to take over as Navy commander

RIGA - Captain Kaspars Zelcs will be appointed Latvian Navy commander in a ceremony in Liepaja on Saturday, November 2, replacing the current Navy commander, Fleet Admiral Ingus Vizulis, the Defense Ministry's Press Department informed LETA.

The Defense Ministry's Parliamentary Secretary Martins Stakis, Chief of Defense Leonids Kalnins, commanders and soldiers from the Armed Forces' units will attend the ceremony.

Vizulis, who became the Navy commander in 2016, will continue his career at the NATO headquarters in Naples, Italy.
