RIGA - During a conversation with Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison, Latvian Prime Minister Krisjanis Karins underscored the necessity to form closer relations with like-minded countries, the prime minister's office reported.
Karins and Morrison has a telephone conversation on Thursday, discussing strengthening of bilateral issues and cooperation in international organizations, including cooperation in fight against disinformation.
Latvia and Australia has active cooperation within the UN, including in the fight against disinformation.
The parties also discussed the EU-Australia cooperation.
The prime minister's office reminded that there is quite large Latvian disapora in Australia - after World War II, Australia admitted about 25,000 refugees from Latvia.
