Kaitseliit to test communication system developed by Estonian company

TALLINN – Estonia's Kaitseliit (Defense League) volunteer corps and the company Uniraja OU have signed an agreement under which Kaitseliit will test the SecureChat communication system being developed by Uniraja.

The company has been working closely with the Saaremaa region of Kaitseliit for several years. Since the communication system has demonstrated itself as robust and reliable during training exercises, Kaitseliit decided to start testing SecureChat on a broader scale, spokespeople for Kaitseliit said.

"The feedback I have received from the Saaremaa region of Kaitseliit has helped to develop the system further. Thanks to this cooperation Uniraja OU has won its first export customer: the U.S. Special Operations Command has bought a test batch," said the creator of SecureChat, Finnish inventor Johannes Vaananen who resides in Estonia.

SecureChat is a communication solution that operates independently of infrastructure. In situations where antenna masts used in military and civilian communication have become unusable, SecureChat is able to ensure digital data communication by establishing a communication network between stationary or mobile radio stations connected with the system. The network works with radio stations that are not dependent on infrastructure and is fully independent.
