RIGA - Actor and entrepreneur Juris Zagars has been selected in the competition of 13 candidates to become the new head of the Daile Theater.
As LETA was told at the Culture Ministry, the new board member will be tasked with "ensuring the theater's artistic growth, maintaining at the same time the diversity and broad public accessibility of theatrical art, as well as the theater's financial stability".
Zagars is due to take over from the Daile Theater's outgoing director Andris Vitols on March 2.
At the same time, Zagars has selected Vieturs Kairiss a the new artistic director of the Daile Theater. Zagars told the press today that Kairiss' responsibility will be not only the artistic contents, but also financial situation.
Zagars said that they both have already started work on the future repertoire for the theater.
Zagars is currently also the director of Cesis concert hall. He said that for the past three years he has been already working part time, but this year he will help the concert hall to prepare for the new season until spring and then will leave the position. He said though that he does not plan to put down his local councilor's mandate at Cesis county council.
