Job vacancies surge 43 pct in Lithuania in Q2 y/y

VILNIUS – The number of registered job vacancies for salaried employees in Lithuania stood at 24,800 at the end of the second quarter of 2021, up by 7,500, or 43.1 percent, from a year earlier, Statistics Lithuania said on Tuesday.

Quarter-on-quarter, the number of vacancies jumped by 3,8 00, or 18 percent, the statistics office said. 

The largest quarterly increases in job vacancy numbers were recorded in wholesale and retail trade, and transport and storage, at 1,200 in each sector, and in manufacturing, and administrative and service activities, at 600 each. 

Decreases were recorded in public administration and defense, and compulsory social insurance, at 300 each, and information and communication, at 200. 

The country's job vacancy rate stood at 1.9 percent in late June, up by 0.3 percentage points quarter-on-quarter and up by 0.6 points year-on-year.
