Iranian authorities have forbidden communication with the Latvian citizen who was detained by Iran on July 19 during its seizure of the British tanker Stena Impero, LETA was informed by the Foreign Ministry.
Taking into account that Latvia does not have an embassy in Tehran, it has requested the Finnish embassy to become involved and ensure consular assistance to the sailor, the ministry said.
