TALLINN – The 17th Security and Risk Management Forum, to take place in Radisson Collection Hotel Tallinn on Wednesday, will discuss the use of artificial intelligence in risk management, risks to states and economies, the role of top executives, and security risks.

The aim of the forum is to raise awareness of the role of risk management and highlight its importance in both the public and private sectors, as well as to map the threats arising from security risks. The forum, held for the 17th time, is a long-standing tradition that brings together representatives from the public and private sectors to discuss the most pressing issues in the field of security and risk management.

The forum will also present the Risk Manager 2024 award, which recognizes an individual or organization that has demonstrated outstanding results in the field of risk management.

Vladimir Ossipov, manager for the Baltics at Marsh McLennan and co-organizer of the forum, said the security and risk management forum plays a crucial role in raising awareness of global risks and promoting proactive strategies for risk mitigation.

"Understanding the interconnectedness of potential threats is increasingly essential for both organizations and individuals. This forum provides valuable insights and resources, enabling participants to effectively navigate an increasingly complex world. By engaging in discussions and sharing best practices, we can collectively enhance our resilience and preparedness for future challenges," Ossipov said in a press release.

Opening remarks will be read by Taimar Peterkop, the head of Estonia's Government Office, and keynote speakers will include Kimmo Kohvakka, director general for the rescue services of Finland; Maria Arana, ESG Leader Europe at Marsh Europe; and Karsten Neiteler, senior manager for financial services at KPMG AG.

The forum's five panels will address risks from different perspectives -- state, economy, management, AI and security.

Speakers will include Tuuli Räim, deputy secretary general for rescue and crisis preparedness at the Estonian Interior Ministry; Erkki Tori, director of coordination for security and national defense at the Government Office; Jaanus Uiga, deputy secretary general for energy and mineral resources at the Ministry of Climate; Tõnu Mertsina, chief economist of Swedbank in Estonia; Veiko Tali, deputy governor of the Bank of Estonia; Peter Lõhmus, chairman of the Fiscal Council, and many others.
