RIGA - The increase in the number of new Covid-19 cases last week has not yet changed the plans to resume the new school year in September, said Health Minister Ilze Vinkele (For Development) in an interview with the Latvian public television today.
The minister underscored that the situation is changing, and a steep increase of Covid-19 might make the government to revise the plans, but so far there are hopes that pupils will be able to attend schools in September.
"In late July, the Education and Science Ministry will come up with infromation on how the study process will be organized in the new school year," said Vinkele.
Speaking about the latest Covid-19 trends last week, Vinkele said that Covid-19 unfortunately is still here. The latest increase of the Covid-19 cases were related with public catering, therefore new restriction have been applied in the work of cafes and restaurants.
