RIGA - Physical distancing will become all the more important after some of the current Covid-19 restrictions are relaxed this week, the Health Ministry's chief infectious disease specialist Uga Dumpis tweeted.
"As of tomorrow, we will be sailing into uncharted waters," the infectious disease specialist said, stressing that adherence to the "principles of distancing will become even more important than before".
Dumpis believes that special attention will have to be paid to organized events bringing together up to 25 participants, people exercising or playing sports in groups, as well as restaurants and recreational venues. "Special carefulness will be needed indoors where the risks are higher," the expert said.
As reported, up to 25 people will be allowed to gather indoors and outdoors for organized events starting this Tuesday, May 12. The maximum duration of indoor events has been set at three hours, but no time limits have been set for events that are held outside.
The group events allowed as of this Tuesday also include organized workouts under the supervision of certified coaches.
Organized observance of religious rituals will also be permitted.
