RIGA - Illegal hostels were uncovered in five locations in Riga during raids conducted by law enforcement authorities on Thursday, spokespeople for the city council informed LETA.
Illegal provision of accommodation services was uncovered in three apartments on Marijas Street, one apartment on Martas Street, a building on Nometnu Street and a building on Slokas Street.
The documents and identities of the people lodging at the illegal hostels were checked. Foreign nationals were checked also for registration with the website covidpass.lv.
A substance visually resembling marijuana was found on one of the tenants who was therefore handed over to the State Police.
All tenants of the illegal hostels were ordered to immediately leave the premises and informed about the possibility to seek assistance at Riga Social Service's centers.
