Tour operator Join UP! Baltic has begun a historic first charter flight programme from Palanga Airport to Egypt. This is the first time direct charter connections are available from the coastal Lithuanian airport to the country’s most popular holiday destinations.

This week, the inaugural flights to Sharm El Sheikh and Hurghada took off, operated by SkyUp MT Limited. The programme brings new opportunities for holidaymakers in Western Lithuania and Latvia, who can now fly directly to Egypt without traveling to Vilnius or Riga.

In addition to Egypt’s most popular resort destinations, from April 2026 Join UP! Baltic will launch a new resort destination near Egypt’s Mediterranean Sea from Palanga and Vilnius – El Alamein.

The flights from Palanga Airport to Sharm El Sheikh are planned to operate from the end of September to November, 2026. Flights to Hurghada are planned to operate every week from the end of September to the end of May, 2026. Flights to El Alamein will be conducted in Spring of 2026.

“We are pleased that charter flights to Egypt have started from Palanga Airport. The expansion of charter flights to holiday destinations at this airport has been a long-anticipated enhancement in the range of services. More broadly, what is very important for us is not only the fact of these flights starting, but also the gradual development of traveler habits and the growing tendency to choose Palanga Airport more often for leisure trips,” commented Simonas Bartkus, CEO of Lithuanian Airports.

Sharm el-Sheikh and Hurghada are one of the most popular holiday destinations in the world, known for its beautiful beaches, the underwater world of the Red Sea and its sunny climate throughout the year. Egypt remains one of the top vacation destinations across all three Baltic states, with over 60,000 people traveling there with Join UP! Baltic annually.

Join UP! Baltic has been actively expanding its charter programme from Palanga Airport to other key leisure destinations, with already total of five destinations available: Antalya in Turkey, Heraklion in Greece and Egypt with three resort destinations. The company already operates direct charter flights to Antalya in Turkey and has recently announced the launch of flights to Heraklion, Crete in 2026 – its fourth direct leisure route from Palanga Airport. Weekly flights to Crete are scheduled from 31 March 2026 until mid-June, and again from late September until early November.

“Travellers increasingly value both the convenience of direct flights and the time saved on transfers to the airport when planning their holidays. With the five-destination programme from Palanga, we are making it easier for thousands of holidaymakers from western Lithuania and nearby Latvian regions to reach the world’s most popular holiday destinations more quickly and comfortably, saving time on long journeys to an airport,” says Aurimas Janušauskas, CEO of Join UP! Baltic.

Join UP! Baltic operating since 2022, serves over 100,000 clients annually and is among the leaders in the Baltic tourism market.
