Health Ministry turns down proposal, general practitioners announce strike

The Latvian Health Ministry turned down the proposal of the Latvian Association of Family Physicians to form a reconciliation commission, and medics have decided to go on a strike until an agreement is reached with the ministry, the association’s president Sarmite Veide reported. She said that a strike committee has been established, and the committee has announced the strike to the Health Ministry, the National Trilateral Cooperation Council and the State Labor Inspectorate, presenting its demands.
