The minister noted that there is currently a doctor in Rezekne who has been infected with Covid-19. Vinkele said epidemiologists are working with the infected colleague and the management of a Rezekne hospital is investigating the case, contact persons have been identified and precautions have been taken.

Vinkele also said that residents should not worry about the shut-down of Rezekne Hospital.

Concerning the restrictions introduced today on the restriction of scheduled health are services in both public and private medical institutions, the minister stressed that essential and emergency medical services will still be provided as before.

Vinkele reiterated that the government will soon decide on restrictions on gathering people in the outdoor spaces - squares, parks, recreational trips around Latvia. It is planned to allow gatherings of up to two people or a family circle.

The minister said that the government could decide on the introduction of these restrictions sometime this weekend.
