The Corruption Prevention Bureau has detained Laila Sereiko, head of Dobele Region Council's procurement commission, on suspicion of accepting bribes offered by Madars Radzelis, the owner of a construction company.
On July 15, the Corruption Prevention Bureau started a criminal case after establishing that Sereiko possibly accepted bribes from road construction company Igate in January-July this year, and in turn helped the company in procurement tenders organized in Dobele Region. According to the bureau, Sereiko was also involved in money laundering practices.
