Greg Fergus, speaker of the lower house of Canada's parliament, to visit Estonia

TALLINN – The speaker of the lower house of the Canadian parliament, Greg Fergus, will visit Estonia on Wednesday at the invitation of  Riigikogu speaker Lauri Hussar.

Hussar extended an invitation to his Canadian colleague during his visit to Canada with the speakers of the other Baltic states at the end of January. 

Fergus, who will be visiting Estonia for the first time, will meet on Wednesday with Hussar, Prime Minister Kaja Kallas, Defense Minister Hanno Pevkur and Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna.

In the Riigikogu, Fergus will also meet with Peeter Tali, chair of the group for Estonia-Canada interparliamentary ties, and members of the parliamentary group. All meetings will discuss relations and closer cooperation between the two countries, further support for Ukraine and pressure on Russia, the mobilization of Russia's frozen assets, and the strengthening of NATO's deterrence and defense posture.

The speaker of the House of Commons of Canada will also meet with Arne Koitmae, head of the State Electoral Office, executives of the software development and business consulting companies CGI and Nortal, and visit the Vabamu Museum of Occupations and Freedom.
