RIGA - The Union of Greens and Farmers will nominate the current Jurmala Mayor Rita Sproge (Greens/Farmers) for re-election, as Janis Ledins, head of the Latvian Green Party's Jurmala branch, told LETA.

He said the Greens/Farmers had decided not to nominate Gatis Truksnis (Greens/Farmers) for the post due to Truksnis' health issues.

As reported, the Union of Greens and Farmers earlier decided to hold negotiations with Harmony and the National Alliance about setting up a new coalition in Jurmala, Ledins told LETA.

The Greens/Farmers have won six out of fifteen seats in Jurmala City Council, and the joint ticket of For You, Jurmala and the New Conservative Party - four. Harmony will have three and the National Alliance two seats on the city council. If the National Alliance accepts a cooperation proposal from the Greens/Farmers, the coalition will be made up of eight council members, but if the coalition is set up by the Greens/Farmers and Harmony, it will be comprised of nine councilors.
