RIGA - The board of the Union of Greens and Farmers today decided to name the party’s board chairman Armands Krauze as its leader for the local elections of the Riga City Council.

Krauze is also the deputy chairman of the Latvian Union of Farmers, and parliamentary secretary of Prime Minister Maris Kucinskis (Greens/Farmers). In the previous local elections in 2013 Krauze also ran as the Riga mayor’s candidate, but the list did not win any seats at the Riga City Council.

The Union of Greens and Farmers is formed by the Latvian Union of Farmers and the Latvian Greens Party. The union also has agreements on cooperation with several regional parties.

The local elections in Latvia will be held in early June.
