RIGA - Of the two scenarios presented to the government on stabilization of the epidemiological situation, the government on Tuesday voiced support to the gradual or A scenario.

The gradual scenario provides that employees in the public and private sector have to work remotely, while manufacturing companies maintain their operations.

The second or D scenario provided for harsher restrictions or lockdown. The final scenario will be made by the government during its meeting on Thursday, March 11.

Even though the government did not review scenario C that would ease restrictions, thus, possibly deteriorating the epidemiological situation, Education and Science Minister Ilga Suplinska (New Conservative Party) and Welfare Minister Ramona Petravica (For Humane Latvia) voiced support to this variant. Nevertheless, both ministers voted for A scenario along with other colleagues.

The operative management group has worked out a total of four scenarios, but will offer the government to choose between two of them - Scenario A, which would allow the economy to keep functioning in the circumstances of Covid-19, and Scenario D, which provides for introducing maximum safety measures.
