RIGA - The government on Tuesday approved the nomination of Toms Platacis for the new head of the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) of Latvia.
Platacis' appointment as FIU chief has yet to be approved by the Saeima which is currently seeing a change of coalition.
Platacis won an open tender for the position of FIU chief in August.
Platacis has been holding different positions at the FIU, and has been running the service as its acting head since the middle of 2022.
