RIGA - On Tuesday, the government supported allocation of EUR 2,891,475 to eight municipalities for repairing damage caused by the August storm.
The government's decree stipulates that the Environmental Protection and Regional Development Ministry will cover local governments' expenditure on repairing damage to different municipal facilities sustained during the August 7 storm and compensate local governments for municipal housing reconstruction and support provided for local residents.
According to the government's decree, Augsdaugava Region will be allocated EUR 240,600, Dobele Region EUR 2,484,140, Jelgava Region EUR 14,449, Jurmala City Council EUR 16,886, Livani Region EUR 485, Madona region EUR 3,740, Talsi Region EUR 33,520, and Tukums Region EUR 97,655.
Municipalities originally sought state support in the amount of EUR 8.9 million.
