Germany remains Lithuania's trusted security, defense partner, defmin says

VILNIUS – German-Lithuanian cooperation in the area of security and defense intensified after Germany took over the lead over the NATO enhanced forward presence battalion in Lithuania, Lithuanian National Defense Minister Raimundas Karobilis says.

He met with Thomas Silberhorn, parliamentary state secretary to the German federal minister of defense, on Sunday, the Lithuanian Ministry of National Defense said.

"Germany remains a trusted partner in the area of security and defense," the minister said.

The security situation in the region, bilateral cooperation and current NATO and EU issues were discussed with the guest.

Ahead of the meeting at the Ministry of National defense, the German parliamentary state secretary visited German troops deployed in Lithuania's Rukla as part of the NATO enhanced forward presence battalion.
