Germany economy and energy minister to arrive on working visit to Latvia on Friday

RIGA - German Economy and Energy Minister Peter Altmaier will arrive on a working visit to Latvia Friday, LETA was told by German Embassy spokeswoman Elina Grinhofa.

She said that the German minister is kicking off an EU-wide series of visits to member states, with the aim of preparing for the upcoming German presidency of the European Council in the second half of 2020 and discuss the German presidency's priorities.

While in Latvia, Minister Altmaier will meet with Foreign Minister Edgars Rinkevics (New Unity), Economy Minister Ralfs Nemiro (KPV LV), Defense Minister Artis Pabriks (For Development), Environmental Protection and Regional Development Minister Juris Puce (For Development), as well as business representatives.

The German minister will also hold a public lecture at the Riga School of Economics and discuss the future of the EU with students.
