RIGA - On Wednesday, a Georgian citizen was detained at Riga International Airport for offering border control officers a EUR 200 bribe, LETA was told by State Border Guard spokeswoman Kristine Petersone.

The woman was flying from Riga to Tbilisi, and during an inspection of her passport border control officers determined that she did not have a stamp that she had arrived in a Schengen zone country. Questioning the woman, she admitted that she arrived in the Schengen zone in 2016 and thus had overstayed her visit in the Schengen area.

The woman then attempted to bribe a border guard with EUR 200.

The woman (born 1972) was detained and a criminal process has been started against her.
