RIGA - The funeral of Latvian basketball player Janis Timma, who likely committed suicide in Russia, will be held today in Riga.
The basketball player's remains were returned to Latvia from Russia on Wednesday.
Last Tuesday, the body of the 32-year-old basketball player was found in the stairwell of an apartment building in central Moscow. Several media reported that Timma had committed suicide.
In October, Timma chose to continue his basketball career in a tournament organized by the Russian bookmakers Liga Stavok, representing the team Alikson.
Timma had played in 68 games for the Latvian national team.
The Latvian had also played for such clubs as Athens Olympiakos, Vitoria Baskonia, Kazan Unics, Lakeland Magic (G-League), Saint Petersburg Zenit, as well as several Latvian clubs.
