Funding allocated to 53 cultural events of national importance in Latvia this year

RIGA - The State Culture Capital Foundation this year will provide EUR 1.24 million in co-funding to support 53 projects of national importance, with the largest allocation granted to Riga International Film Festival (RIFF), according to information available on the foundation’s website.

The film festival has been allocated EUR 130,000. The second largest support, EUR 98,000, will be provided to the International Festival of Contemporary Theatre Homo Novus, and EUR 58,000 have been earmarked for the New Theatre Institute of Latvia, which is organizing Latvia’s participation in the Prague Quadrennial of Performance Design and Space 2019.

The foundation’s representative Jana Verdina told LETA that a total of 95 funding applications were submitted to the State Culture Capital Foundation this year. The total amount of these funding requests was EUR 3.51 million.

Latvijas Valsts Mezi state forest manager is co-sponsoring the State Culture Capital Foundation’s program with EUR 138,000 and Latvenergo state-owned power utility with EUR 75,000.
