From Kefir to Coconut – Ice Cream That Speaks the Modern Language: Food Union Latvia Launches 11 New Ice Creams for This Summer

  • 2025-05-26

Latvia’s leading dairy processing company Food Union Latvia is once again kicking off the summer – ice cream eating – season with a fresh lineup of new treats. This year, the company has developed 11 innovative ice creams in interesting formats, with unconventional ingredients and never-before-tasted flavors that meet the demands of today’s consumers – bringing global trends to the local market. The company has invested approximately half a million euros in their development and market launch.

“The long-awaited arrival of sunny, warm weather is the first sign of summer, and for us – and every fan of frozen treats – that means the ice cream season is here! This year, we’ve carefully prepared 11 delights – not only from creamy milk and sweet cream, but also from kefir, a leaner and lighter alternative to traditional desserts! For the first time ever, we’ve also created a vegan coconut milk ice cream for fans of the brand Pols. This year is also about familiar flavors in unconventional formats – like ice cream sandwiched between two whole grain cookies,” says Ģirts Liniņš, Brand Manager for Ice Cream at Food Union Latvia.

Five New Pols Products

The beloved childhood favorite ice cream brand Pols is flexing its innovative muscles this year, launching not only the most new products – five in total – but also the most creative in terms of flavor and format! The Pols ice cream on a stick line welcomes a new addition: Pols in white glaze with chocolate cookie bits. Meanwhile, the cone line introduces a peanut butter-flavored ice cream. For fans of smaller treats, there’s the Pols coconut bar with coconut flakes. And for those who can never choose between cookies and ice cream, there’s a golden middle path: Pols cream ice cream with raspberry sauce between two whole grain oat cookies. This year also sees the debut of the first vegan Pols ice cream on a stick, made with premium quality coconut milk.

“Exciting flavors and creative formats – ‘Pols’ won’t disappoint any fan of this legendary ice cream brand,” says Ģirts Liniņš.

Vēsma – Two Kefir Ice Creams in Cones

The Vēsma brand continues to create “lighter” ice creams from a nutritional perspective. This year, it adds two new kefir ice cream flavors in waffle cones to its existing range of vegan and light options: kefir ice cream with strawberry sauce and kefir ice cream with blueberry sauce.

“In our part of the world, kefir has long been a well-known and valued product, and it’s now experiencing global recognition thanks to the beneficial qualities of fermented foods. Light, refreshing, with kefir’s signature tang and juicy sauces – Vēsma’s new ice creams will be the perfect treat for anyone looking for something different in the freezer aisle,” says Ģirts Liniņš.

Ekselence – Three Refined Desserts on a Stick

The gourmet dessert ice cream brand Ekselence is launching three enhanced versions of its most popular frozen desserts on a stick this year: peanut butter ice cream in a double glaze, cream ice cream with pomegranate-raspberry sauce in a double glaze, and cream ice cream with pecans and maple syrup. “Delightful ice creams in elegant packaging – the best way to treat yourself or a loved one – that’s “Ekselence”!” adds Ģirts Liniņš.

Banana Tio

The cocktail ice cream Tio introduces a new banana flavor – one of the most popular ice cream flavors in the world. It perfectly complements the existing Tio cream and chocolate ice cream range, making it ideal for creating colorful ice cream scoops or sought-after cocktail mixes at home.
