RIGA - On Wednesday in New York, during the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Edgars Rinkevics, met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Business and Diaspora Relations of the Commonwealth of Dominica, Kenneth Darroux, for a discussion on the latest international developments and cooperation in international organizations, LETA was informed by the Foreign Ministry.
During the meeting, Rinkevics pointed out that current cooperation between the two countries had been taking part in the formats of international organizations, the EU and the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC). Latvia is prepared to find points of intersection for advancing bilateral contacts with Dominica. The Ministers exchanged views on the development of tourism development between the two countries and the possibility of concluding an agreement on a visa-free travel.
“In view of Dominica’s priorities in the United Nations being climate action, the protection of environment and oceans, and the reduction of the risk of natural disasters, we see potential for a closer multilateral cooperation,” Rinkevics said.
The Minister highlighted support for Ukraine, its sovereignty and territorial integrity expressed by Dominica.
The Latvian Minister of Foreign Affairs invited the Foreign Minister of Dominica to visit Latvia.
