RIGA - For Development has decided to put forward 28-year-old MP Arturs Toms Pless for the post of environmental protection and regional development minister, the party informed LETA.
Pless currently serves as the chairman of the Saeima's Administrative Territorial Reform Committee, and is also the parliamentary secretary of the Environmental Protection and Regional Development Ministry.
For Development believes that Pless is the most suitable candidate for the post, as he is well acquainted with the work within the ministry and could ensure and will be able to ensure the continuity of the political initiatives launched by the ministry, including the completion of the administrative territorial reforms.
"I would like to thank my colleagues for their trust in nominating me for the post of minister of environmental protection and regional development. Working in the team of Minister Juris Puce, I was present in the process of developing and adopting administrative territorial reforms, and I think it is very important to complete it," said Pless.
He believes that as a minister, Puce has done a tremendous job, implemented many important initiatives, and he would be honored to continue what he has started. Pless also confirmed that he will do everything possible to move Latvia towards climate neutrality, to make significant changes in the field of digitalization and to move towards a more balanced regional development.
