In May, a charity auction titled “Buy a lot from the Legends of Ukrainian Sports so that orphans have a football field” was held at the Valerii Lobanovskyi Dynamo Stadium in Kyiv. The goal of the event was to raise funds for the construction of a modern sports ground for orphans in Zhytomyr.

The event was organized by FC Dynamo, the Ukrainian Journalists' National Team, and the News Center information agency. The initiative was also supported by the Andrii Matiukha Foundation. The new inclusive facility is planned to be built on the grounds of the Center for Medical Rehabilitation and Palliative Care for Children. It will be used by children from the orphanage as well as approximately 6,000 children from the Zhytomyr region.

Among the lots — unique items from Ukrainian athletes

The auction featured exclusive sports lots and offered online participation for patrons who could not attend the event in person.

Among the lots presented were jerseys of the Ukrainian national team players Oleksandr Zinchenko and Illia Zabarnyi, balls signed by Andrii Shevchenko and other footballers, boxing gloves from Vitalii Klitschko and Oleksandr Usyk, a sneaker from tennis player and serviceman Serhii Stakhovskyi, as well as a commemorative coin from the undisputed boxing world champion.

“Such projects embody the true strength of unity — when sports, charity, and humanity create opportunities for those who need them most,” said Andrii Matiukha.

The Foundation continues its systematic work in supporting projects in the fields of sports, education, healthcare, veteran assistance, and the development of the country’s defense capabilities. These initiatives are part of a long-term strategy to support Ukrainian communities.
