TALLINN – The Tallinn science park Tehnopol is to help Prototron and Ajujaht winner FoodDocs achieve success on one of Europe's largest retail markets, Germany, where 25 percent of the company's potential customers are as the Estonian market is simply too small for the startup offering a digital food safety platform solution.
"The Estonian market is so small that by only being active here the startup will not be able to grow big and this is why we are constantly looking for possibilities through our networks to help them to various external markets. We have currently established close cooperation relations with Berlin, Paris and Barcelona in order to help Estonian startups establish themselves and succeed on those markets," Triin Ilves, Tehnopol Startup Incubator community manager, said in a press release.
According to Ilves, Tehnopol provides help both when making preparations necessary for entering external markets as well as when establishing real functioning contacts through their partners on the destination market in order to get one's foot in the door.
"The FoodDocs team is very glad to have been chosen for the Access2Europe three-month Berlin Cube program. Even more so as a quarter of our EU destination market is located namely there. Our objective is to find as many contacts as possible there in the framework of the program, through whom we can start testing the suitability of the product for the market there," Katrin Liivat, head of sales and marketing at FoodDocs, said.
FoodDocs develops and offers a digital food safety platform, helping food handling companies ensure that all food safety documents are in accordance to the law and that all necessary requirements are always fulfilled.
The science park Tehnopol helps startups enter various European markets through the Access2Europe project and in the framework of that also hosts foreign startups in Estonia. Tehnopol cooperates with three partners -- the Cube located in Berlin, the French-German Chamber of Commerce in Paris and Peninsula in Barcelona.
The startups participating in the program are offered a customized program at four destinations and they will be able to apply to a three-month incubation program, during which they can have a closer look at the local ecosystem and its members and establish valuable partnership and customer relations. In addition to that, the startups will be provided free working premises, access to events taking place at the incubator as well as mentor aid.
