First relocated refugees arrive in Latvia, anti-refugee protestors attack journalist

RIGA - A tailor and clothing designer, a hotel manager, a nurse, and a hairdresser are the first refugees to arrive in Latvia under the EU’s burden-sharing scheme to redistribute asylum-seekers among EU member countries. The two families from Syria and Eritrea with one preschool-aged child each arrived shortly before midnight on Friday, Feb. 5, around 12 hours ahead of an anti-refugee protest where a journalist from Latvian Radio was attacked by demonstrators while on air.
