RIGA - According to the Post Office Travel Money 2025 study published by the Financial Times, Riga is the most affordable destination for short trips in Europe, Riga City Council's External Communications Department informed LETA.
For the first time in ten years, the Latvian capital tops the list, offering travelers significantly lower costs than other European cities.
For example, in the 2024 Christmas markets report, Riga ranked third behind Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia, and Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania.
The latest study analyzes 12 common tourist costs, including meals, public transport and accommodation, in 38 cities across Europe.
In Riga, a two-night stay in a three-star hotel, plus meals, drinks and transport costs a total of around GBP 253 (EUR 294), 15 percent less than last year. Vilnius is in second place, while Warsaw is ranked third.
The study emphasizes that Riga, along with other Baltic and neighboring cities, dominates the list, offering excellent value for money. Riga offers tourists not only affordable prices, but also rich cultural heritage, beautiful architecture and a vibrant urban environment that is attracting increasingly more travelers.
