Festive program planned at November 11 Embankment in Riga for Ligo midsummer night

RIGA - A rich program of festive and entertaining events is planned at November 11 Embankment in Riga for this year’s Ligo midsummer celebration, which will last from Sunday afternoon till dawn on Monday, Indra Vilde, a representative of the Riga City Council, told LETA.

Popular Latvian musicians and actors will be performing on three stages, and more than 30 cafes and beer tents will be open to visitors all night, serving traditional food and drinks. Entry to the midsummer celebrations in Riga is free, the local authority informed.

Midsummer bonfires will be lit up at 10:30 p.m.

Public transport in Riga will also be free on June 23 and 24.

The midsummer celebration at November 11 Embankment is organized by the Riga City Council and its education, culture and sports department in cooperation with Ideju Instituts.
