RIGA - The fence on the border between Latvia and Belarus has been built, Prime Minister Evika Silina (New Unity) told reporters at a press conference after her meeting with the president on Wednesday.

The prime minister said she hoped that she and the minister would be able to commission the work in the next few days, but that intensive work would start next year and the construction of the fence between the Latvian and Russian borders would continue.

As reported, the entire fence on the eastern border with Russia and Belarus is expected to be completed in 2024, after which the installation of other elements of border protection infrastructure will continue so that a modern and efficient border protection infrastructure is in place on the entire eastern border.
