TALLINN - FedEx Express Estonia on Wednesday officially opened its new air cargo terminal and office building, marking the first completed development in Airport City's southern area, adjacent to Tallinn Airport.
Built by Maru Ehitus, the facility has a total area of 5,250 square meters, including 1,450 square meters of office space and 3,800 square meters of warehouse and terminal space. The site also features 57 vehicle loading bays and 123 parking spaces for employees and visitors. The terminal connects directly to the FedEx global air and road network, offering Estonian businesses fast and reliable access to more than 220 countries and destinations.
The new cargo terminal is equipped with roof-mounted solar panels for energy supply and advanced sorting systems capable of processing and sorting up to 3,000 shipments per hour.
"This is a milestone moment for the entire Airport City development," said Veiko Keerberg, CEO of Airport City AS. He pointed out that the new FedEx Express Estonia air cargo terminal and office building is the very first development to be completed in the southern area of Airport City, incorporating modern technological solutions and meeting all end-user requirements.
Riivo Tuvike, CEO of Tallinn Airport, added: "The completion of the FedEx Express Estonia terminal shows that Estonia's logistics and aviation sectors are ready for the next big steps. Our airport offers a unique combination of rapid connections, close proximity to the city center, and high environmental standards -- forming a robust platform for both the local economy and international partners."
"Our latest investment strengthens Estonia’s position in global trade," said Mariusz Mik, vice president of ground operations, Nordics and Eastern Europe, at FedEx Europe. "By focusing on speed and efficiency, FedEx is not only supporting the country’s economy, like the growing e-commerce sector, but also empowering local entrepreneurs to reach customers in over 220 markets worldwide. This is how we connect Estonia's culture of innovation with the globe."
In the near future, new buildings for DHL Express and Magnetic MRO will also be completed in the same area of Airport City, making the surroundings of Tallinn Airport increasingly attractive to new logistics and aviation companies and shaping it into a key logistics hub in northern Europe. The Airport City real estate portfolio includes more than 20 development projects spread across 130 hectares in the vicinity of Tallinn Airport.
