RIGA - Starting from 2022, family support reform will be implemented, said Prime Minister Krisjanis Karins (New Unity) after the government meeting today.
The prime minister said that the government today adopted the 2021 budget framework, earmarking additional financing from medics' and teachers' wages, reduction of social contribution by 1 percent, and increasing non-taxable minimum income.
Karins also underscored that the government decided to start family support reform in 2022.
Legislative acts will be adopted until March 1, 2021.
The Welfare Ministry should provide in legislation that family benefit for one child up to the age of 20 will be EUR 25 a month, for two children - EUR 100, for three children - EUR 225, and for four and more children - EUR 100 a month per child.
The Education and Science Ministry has to prepare legislation on state support to studies in Latvian higher educational establishments for children coming from families with many children.
