TALLINN – In view of the need to verify the information received from market participants, the Estonian Competition Authority has extended until the first quarter of 2024 the timeframe for the ex post review of the pharmacy reform.
The pharmacy reform entered into force on April 1, 2020. The aim of the reform was to support competition, the commercial independence of pharmacists and their professional responsibility for the quality of pharmacy services, by prohibiting ties between retailers and wholesalers and requiring majority ownership by pharmacists.
The Competition Authority has launched an ex post analysis to assess the outcomes of the reform.
