TALLINN - Starting Thursday, Eurosec OÜ is testing a new speed camera on the Peetri section of the Tallinn-Tartu highway to assess its performance and potential suitability for use in Estonian traffic enforcement; the test period will last for 60 days.

The Estonian Transport Administration has granted a permit to conduct the testing on a public highway. The role of the Transport Administration is limited to issuing the permit, and the agency is not involved in testing the speed camera, evaluating the results, or the device's potential future implementation.

To assess whether the speed camera functions properly and as expected, it is necessary to test it in real traffic. Testing the camera in an isolated area or with individual vehicles would not provide an adequate overview of its performance under the actual traffic conditions in which it would potentially be used.

The speed camera will only detect and record an image of vehicles passing it at speeds exceeding 110 km/h.

The recordings collected during the pilot project will not be transferred to any other database or information system. All photos will be deleted at the end of the test period.
