European Night of Museums is the action of one of the European Year of Cultural Heritage (2018) plans implemented in Lithuania. The common topic of European cultural heritage actualization is “Modernizing Lithuania”.
On May 19, 2018 (Saturday), from 19.00 to 24.00 in Šiauliai, even 13 museums will invite to visit night events.
The organizer of the action in Šiauliai is Šiauliai “Aušros” museum.

Education Centre for Defence and Military Science of Šiauliai University (P. Višinskio St 38)
The program:
19.00 – 22.00 The acquaintance with the development of military science and defence of Lithuania, partisan wars of the 20th century, military uniforms. The excursions will be held every half an hour. A limited number of visitors will be admitted at the same time.

The program:
19.00–24.00 Visiting the museum which is located in one of the tallest buildings of Šiauliai – Šiauliai water supply tower: UAB “Šiaulių vandenys” history, the stages of development of city water supply and sewage system, its development and modernization, staff’s traditions.

19.00–1.00 Interactive educational tasks in the exhibition “The Formats of Identity. Tradition and Modernism in the Lithuanian Photography of the Interwar Period.”

Court History Museum of Šiauliai District Court (Dvaro St 83)
The program:
19.00 – 24.00 Excursions in the museum and in a unique in Lithuania courtroom of Peliksas Bugailiškis’ name. They will introduce the history of courts of Lithuania and Šiauliai. The excursions will begin at 19.00, 20.00, 21.00, 22.00, and 23.00. A limited number of visitors will be admitted at the same time.

Šiauliai Railroad Museum (Dubijos St 26)
The program:
19.00–24.00 Exhibits that reflect the history and the present time of railroads. In the outdoor exposition – the exclusive exhibition of trains, locomotives and railway machinery. Railroaders will tell more about exhibits, some of them will be available to see from the inside. Games and entertainment for children.

Sports Museum (J. Jablonskio St 16)
The program:
19.00–24.00 Educational activity “Sports for everyone”.
20.00 The history will be recreated together with famous Olympics athletes from Šiauliai who make Lithuania’s name famous (Remalda Kergytė, Santa Pakenytė, Eglė Balčiūnaitė, Rasa Drazdauskaitė, Vilma Rimšaitė, Paulius Viktoravičius, Antanas Sireika, Midaugas Žukauskas and others).
22.00 Night time zumba.

Žaliūkiai Village Miller's Farmstead (Architektų St 73)
The program:
19.00–24.00 Shepherds’ revel by the campfire (shepherd bread and potato baking), spear throwing, various games, herb tea drinking, Žaliūkiai bread tasting.
21.00 – 22.00 Outing with youth folklore ensemble “Ramtatūris” from Zarasai district Antazavė culture centre (leader Dalia Paliūnienė).
23.00 –1.00 Observation of heavenly bodies (lights) together with astrophysicists club of Šiauliai Young Technicians Centre (leader Vacys Jankus).
24.00 Midnight excursion with a miller in Žaliūkiai windmill.
