RIGA - Latvia will have EUR 38.5 million available for the next year's Erasmus+ call for proposals in the field of education, training, youth and sport, LETA learned from Liga Jerosceva, senior expert at the Communication and Program Publicity Department of the State Education Development Agency.

The European Commission (EC) has announced the call for proposals for the European Union (EU) education, training, youth and sport program Erasmus+ 2025. The program will receive almost EUR 5 billion next year, an increase of 6.5 percent compared to 2024. Of the total budget available, EUR 3.96 billion are earmarked for education and training projects, EUR 379.28 million for youth and EUR 76.29 million for sport.

In the coming year, Erasmus+ will continue to support the mobility of pupils, students, adults, teachers and staff, as well as the implementation of cooperation partnership projects in general, vocational, higher and adult education.

More than EUR 38.5 million has been allocated for the implementation of the program in education and training in Latvia in the 2025 call, including EUR 17.9 million in higher education, EUR 10.31 million in vocational education, EUR 7.31 million in school education and EUR 2.73 million in adult education. As part of the continued support to local coaches and staff of non-professional and grassroots sports organizations, EUR 116,000 have been allocated for the implementation of sports mobilities in Latvia.

The popularity of Erasmus+ is growing year on year, providing opportunities for more and more participants and organizations to benefit from the program's activities, supporting mobility and international cooperation in Europe and beyond, Jerosceva said.

"Erasmus+ will continue to support Ukraine through projects promoting learning mobility for Ukrainian citizens, empowering people to acquire new skills, helping to combat misinformation and promoting the integration of refugees into the education system.

The program plays an important role in spreading common EU values, promoting the values of human dignity and rights, freedom, democracy, equality and the rule of law in all project activities.

The call for proposals is open to organizations (legal entities) active in the fields of general, vocational, higher education, adult education and sport.
