VILNIUS – As EU leaders called on energy ministers and the European Commission to come up with concrete decisions on a cap on the prices of gas used for electricity generation, Lithuanian Energy Minister Dainius Kreivys says this must be done by the upcoming winter.

"Decisions are needed as soon as possible, so we need to pool our effort on finding the right mechanisms to implement these measures before the winter," Kreivys was quoted as saying in a statement issued by the Energy Ministry after he attended a meeting of EU energy ministers on Tuesday.

Last week, EU leaders reached a compromise and called on the European Commission and EU energy ministers to come up with concrete solutions on capping the prices of gas used for electricity generation, including a cost-benefit analysis, as well as on a temporary dynamic gas price corridor.
